(Ages 10 - 18)
This course continues the study of the building blocks of Western classical music, with minor scales, modes, more syncopated rhythms, modulations, and pieces employing Sonata principle. Students will continue to hone their sightsinging and ear training skills. As soon as they are able, students begin to study musical scores in class, which may include pieces they are currently studying or have studied in private lessons.
Please note: To be placed into Music Theory classes for the first time, all school-aged students should take either the Standard Theory Placement Test or the AP Music Theory Placement Tests that are offered in the Fall and Spring.
