Private Lessons

Private lessons provides students with individual instruction with one of Levine’s talented faculty members and are geared towards the specific goals, needs and aspirations of each student regardless of experience or age. For new students, we take the time and care to arrange individual placement interviews to match you with the right teacher to meet your individual musical needs. Private lesson students can participate in a variety of performance opportunities at Levine including juries, which provides students with an opportunity to play for other members of the faculty to demonstrate progress and receive positive feedback, as well as be a part of the Levine community where students of all ages, backgrounds and experiences come together in music.

Most private lessons begin at age 6 or older, although there is a range based on the instrument. Certain elements are consistent from instrument to instrument:

  • Students need to be able to focus;
  • Students need to have a true desire to learn (not just a desire to please their parents);
  • An ability to read and write is helpful in all cases and necessary in some.
