New Students

Welcome!

Welcome to the Levine community, where students of all ages and musical abilities come together in music. Levine’s faculty of 150 professional artists nurture our students’ musical aspirations and inspire them to reach their goals, whether the style is classical, jazz or rock. We look forward to guiding you along your musical journey.

Are you new to musical study, or not sure which program is right for you or your child? Please contact us to learn more about what Levine offers and to discuss your interests, or read more about readiness for private lessons.

To Enroll in Private Lessons and Suzuki Packages:

enroll-privateFor many students and parents of students, deciding to take private lessons is an exciting time, but that initial decision is just a first step. While we strive to make this process as easy as possible, at Levine, we also feel it is vital to take the time to place every student with exactly the right teacher.

  1. Begin by filling out a New Student Placement Form.
  2. Within a few days the Department Chair for the selected instrument will recommend an appropriate teacher, matching the student's interests, goals, and schedule with a compatible instructor. Generally, prospective students (and/or a parent, when appropriate) meet with the Chair for this process, although certain placements are arranged over the telephone.
  3. The student and this teacher will then meet to ensure that both are happy with the placement and to set the lesson schedule.
  4. After the day, time and lesson length have been agreed upon, but prior to the first lesson, the student formally enrolls at Levine by completing the Private Lesson Enrollment Form which can be submitted online.  You may also download a pdf version of this form and submit it at any campus.

This process and private lesson instruction may be started at any time during the year.

To Enroll in Group Classes, Ensembles and Summer Programs:

enroll-classesGroup classes can provide a great introduction to music for young or beginning students, and also can be an excellent complement to private lesson instruction. Levine also has numerous ensembles that offer students the opportunity to play and learn with peers.

Students who are new to Levine may enroll directly into most group classes using the Online Registration System. The system database will enable you to see all classes and ensembles at Levine's four campuses and the Customer Account section will help you easily manage your activities with Levine online.

If an audition is required or you have any questions about the group class or ensemble, please contact the appropriate Department Chair.
