In an angry public letter, Johannes Brahms harshly criticized the new German School comprising Liszt, Berlioz and Wagner, as superficial program music. As a purist, Brahms made his stand as keeper of the great Beethovian tradition. This recital will highlight the dramatic rift between two great composers of our time, Brahms and Liszt. Performed by pianists and Levine faculty artists Wen-Yin Chan and Alex Peh.
