Welcome to Levine Presents 2011-2012 series: The Music of America

American music encompasses a wealth of traditions and influences and has provided inspiration to a number of European composers who visited our shores (Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Dvorak, and Bartok); just as American composers (such as George Gershwin and even Duke Ellington) were influenced by the earlier European romantics (Liszt and Chopin).

American music embraces a broad spectrum of influences and the music that is uniquely American is as fresh and original now as it was at its birth. This year Levine Presents The Music of America in all its richness.

Levine to Partner with Classical WETA

During the course of the coming season, designated performances will be taped live for subsequent broadcast by Classical WETA, and WETA’s talented on-air hosts will be on-hand to introduce those performances and several Levine master classes.
