If you have never played an instrument before but always wanted to, if you think you have what it takes to be a concert artist, if you would like to improve your singing, or you want your children to learn about and enjoy music, then Levine is the school for you! Here's why:
Quality teachers Teachers at Levine are professionals of the highest quality selected through a rigorous audition/interview process. Levine School is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. Levine’s faculty and staff provide expert counsel on all areas of musical study.
Lively ensembles Have fun making music with other musicians, learn important ensemble skills and take advantage of opportunities to perform in the community.
School facilities Our Northwest DC, Southeast DC (at THEARC), Maryland (at The Music Center at Strathmore) and Virginia Campuses provide a serious atmosphere for study and an exciting place to meet other music students. Sallie Mae Hall at the Northwest DC Campus houses The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Music Library - Information Center and Recording Studio, with recording and playback equipment provided by Harman International, The Jane Lang Recital Hall, and The James L. Kunen Theater. These facilities are available to all Levine students.
Performance opportunities Levine students perform in more than 70 recitals each year in the Jane Lang Recital Hall, the James L. Kunen Theater, and venues throughout Washington. These include the Kennedy Center, The Music Center at Strathmore, the Coolidge Auditorium at the Library of Congress, the National Building Museum, and the Smithsonian Hall of Musical Instruments.
Concerts Levine offers free concerts by our distinguished artist/faculty and students at all four of our Campuses and throughout the community. Upon request, students registered for private lessons are given one complimentary ticket each academic year to attend any concert featuring Levine faculty artists. Partnerships with other organizations Levine has developed strong relationships with our partners at our Maryland Campus at The Music Center at Strathmore, and at our Southeast DC Campus at THEARC. These partners include the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the National Philharmonic, Washington Performing Arts Society, CityDance Ensemble, Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra and the Washington Ballet. As a result of these partnerships and collaborations, we have been able to offer our students and patrons a variety of master classes, performances, classes and programs such as Symphonic Explorations with the BSO (see our Course Catalog (PDF)). Levine has also partnered with organizations such as Georgetown University, Smithsonian Institution and Library of Congress to bring enrichment programs to Levine students
Artists-in-Residence Levine has several Artists-in-Residence who are featured in events, concerts and master classes throughout the year.
