Tuition Assistance

The following information is provided to assist students, parents, and faculty members in understanding the Tuition Assistance policies of the Levine School of Music (LSOM). Tuition Assistance recipients may use the payment plan, but failure to make payments in a timely manner will result in rescission of Tuition Assistance. Although Tuition Assistance is limited, every effort will be made to assist those students who, because of financial difficulties, would otherwise be unable to study at LSOM.  Please understand that the LSOM does not award full scholarships. In general, the range of tuition assistance awards will be between 10% and 85% of the total anticipated tuition for those who qualify. Please take this into consideration when deciding what lesson options to pursue.

Tuition Assistance Award Policies

Applications for Tuition Assistance must be submitted no later than June 15th for the following academic year for priority consideration. After this date, applications will be considered on a rolling basis as funds allow. Recipients must reapply each academic year. Any assistance received is applied as a tuition discount and is not given to the student in the form of cash. If there is a reduction in the length of the lesson time or the number of lessons, the award will be reduced accordingly. Any increase in lesson time or number of lessons will not necessarily result in a proportionate increase in the award. A student who withdraws prior to the completion of a semester will not receive credit on his/her Tuition Assistance for subsequent enrollment.

The acceptance of Tuition Assistance from Levine School of Music carries with it an obligation on the part of the student to attend lessons on a regular basis and to work diligently on making progress in his/her areas of study. It is also expected that students and parents will interact in an appropriate manner with staff and faculty. Tuition Assistance may be withdrawn at any time if, in the opinion of the teacher and the Dean, the recipient fails to meet minimum standards which are expected by the teacher and LSOM. The receipt of assistance does not guarantee assistance in the future. All Tuition Assistance students will be required to submit a signed Tuition Assistance Contract to indicate acceptance of their Tuition Assistance award.

For students who have applied to Levine’s Honors Program, they may also apply for Tuition Assistance but must submit a separate Tuition Assistance application in addition to their Honors Program application. Please see above for more information on Levine’s Honors programs.
